Meet Sandy Bembry — Founder of Camp Osprey

 

Hi, I’m Sandy Bembry — a registered nurse, mother of five sons, and founder of Camp Osprey. My husband Gary and I have been married for 36 wonderful years, and we’ve called this community home since 1969.

 

With a nursing background in orthopedics, neurology, and cardiac care, I’ve had the privilege of serving children across all age levels as a school nurse with the Manatee County School Board since 2010. I’ve also worked with the Manatee County Concussion Team and spent several summers as a camp nurse — which is where the dream of creating Camp Osprey was born.

 

As a lifelong advocate for children, my mission is simple: to provide a safe, healthy, and joy-filled space where kids can grow, explore, and make lasting memories. I truly believe it takes a village to raise a child — and at Camp Osprey, we treat every camper like family.

 

Faith is a cornerstone of our camp’s foundation. As a Christian, I believe in the power of prayer and purpose. We pray for every aspect of camp and offer a weekly, voluntary Bible study on-site. While we warmly welcome campers and counselors of all faiths (or none at all), our values are guided by love, service, and grace. We never impose our beliefs but are happy to share our faith when invited.
